iSCSI
Si tratta di uno standard (ratificato nel 2003 dall'IETF) che consente di utilizzare il protocollo SCSI su reti TCP/IP. L'adozione di questo protocollo ha avuto una forte accelerazione con la diffusione di Ethernet Gigabit. La realizzazione di SAN basate su iSCSI è diventata una alternativa valida ed economica alle SAN basate su Fibre Channel.
